Have you considered Prostate MRI?

Prostate MRI

Prostate MRI is an advanced prostate imaging technology that provides very accurate, clear images of the prostate gland. It's used to help diagnose and plan treatment for prostate diseases.

Prostate MRI with eCoil™ may assist your physician in providing accurate diagnosis and picking the right treatment path for your situation.

Ask you doctor if Prostate MRI is right for you.

One in four black men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime.

Prostate Cancer: A Growing Problem

Prostate cancer is a growing problem for men around the world. In the United States alone, over 230,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year and 30,000 men will die. One in every 6 American men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime. The incidence increases to one in every 4 for African-American men.

Limits of Current Standards of Care

Current standards for diagnosis, including ultrasound imaging, have limitations that result in false negatives and false positives. According to the AdMeTech Foundation, a non-profit sponsor of medical research,

  • Some 15% of men with normal Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels still have prostate cancer.
  • Even when PSA levels are abnormal, some 88% of men end up not having prostate cancer but undergoing unnecessary biopsies.
  • Only about 1% of the prostate is sampled during a typical biopsy
  • About 1/2 of men treated with radical prostatectomy and radiation therapy experience complications of incontinence and/or impotence

Impact of Prostate MRI
Because such a small part of the prostate is sampled during a typical biopsy, the improved visualization possible through prostate MRI can add an important assurance that the physician is sampling from the most suspicious areas.

Prostate MRI can give clinicians a wealth of information that can be used to personalize treatment and, hopefully, reduce some of the complications of treatment. Prostate MRI can be helpful before biopsy to guide clinicians to the area most susceptible for disease, before treatment to enable customized therapy, or after treatment to determine its effectiveness.
